The Unmuddled Mathematician

Goodbye
By Chris S. Coray, The Unmuddled Mathematician

On Tuesday a minority of voters in America (but a vast majority of voters in Utah and Rich County) elected Donald J. Trump as the next president.  The election was fair, not rigged, as Mr. Trump often claimed.

What follows is the longest sentence I have ever written.   I am sorry.  The good news is that at the end are a couple of very short ones.

What follows is a partial list of what Mr. Trump said or is.  He spent 5 years as the leader of the birther movement, claiming President Obama was not born in this country; he said that John McCain and other American POW’s were not heroes (Mr. Trump had 5 deferments from military service and has never served) as he preferred those served but were not captured; he admitted in what he called “Locker Room Talk” that because he is a star he could get away with horrible behavior with women (at least 12 of whom have come forward publicly); he said that a federal judge born in Indiana could not be unbiased because the judge has Mexican ancestry;  he said a deportation force should be created to deport all undocumented persons;  he made fun of a disabled person by mimicking the motion caused by the disability; he is the founder of Trump University (now defunct and is being sued); he thinks climate change is a Chinese Hoax; he said he knows more about ISIS than our generals; he said that women who have abortions should be punished criminally; he made fun of a gold star family; he is the first presidential candidate in 40 years not to  release his tax returns (one of which shows a 900 million plus deduction in one year);  he said that immigrants from Mexico were rapists, drug dealers, murderers, and he supposed “A few good people”; he used horrible profanity and vulgar language at his rallies and even during the debates; he was fined by the IRS for improper use of his “charitable” foundation; he has promised to build a wall across the US—Mexico border and get Mexico to pay for it; he is an adulterer; he has called women fat pigs, slobs, and eating machines.

Mitt Romney held a public meeting in which he said much more than I have written and has not retracted a word, in all of which I concur completely.

In order to write this column I must be in a frame of mind that contains joy and a sense of well being.  Those feelings do not presently exist.

I am finished.  Goodbye.

Coat & Boot Drive!

The Garden City Library is sponsoring a coat and boot drive beginning November 14th.  Please clean out your closets and donate coats and snow boots that are clean and in good condition. Parents, save money by trading up children’s winter coats and boots.  Donation area is in the library’s breezeway with 24 hour access.  Check often for new donations until January 31st, 2017.  We respectfully ask that you take only what you need and check often for new donations.  Everyone is welcome to participate. The more we give the better the selection! Remaining items will be donated to charity after January 31, 2017 or included in the Garden City Library’s annual rummage sale scheduled for June 23-24, 2017.

Survey Of Elderly Services

The Bear River Area Agency on Aging is conducting a survey about the needs of adults age 60 and older in Cache, Rich, and Box Elder counties.  We would like to gather information about the types of services older adults and family caregivers feel are needed in our communities.  The survey can be found at the following link https://usu.co1.qualtrics.com/SE/?SID=SV_6WhRX1DDZWjWTE9.  A paper survey is also available for those who would prefer it.

We would like to get as many responses as possible from older adults, family caregivers, community members, and professionals to assist in our planning efforts.  Feel free to forward this to any you feel would be interested in participating.

If you have any questions or to request a paper survey, please contact me.  Thank you for your assistance!
