Garden City Fire District Meeting Minutes

Garden City Fire District Meeting Minutes

The board members present for the Feb 15th meeting were Randall Knight, Doug Pincock, Barb Turnbow, Michael Lasswell and Rich Scheaffer.  There were no public attendees.

The board would like to start working on the Satellite station lot after it is purchased.   An estimate for fill dirt for the lot and entryway was $75,000 and discussions will be held about sewer and water connection fees.

The Privacy policy statement for the districts website was updated to meet the state auditor’s requirements. The board needs to develop a digital long term storage site to make it easier to file and locate the various past, present and future documents developed.  Because the retention requirements are long term a clerk email address was set up so each board member doesn’t have to store their communications for extended periods of time.  They have now been asked to forward any items that need to be stored to the clerk email address.  The board would like to hire a part time intern this summer to sort through all of the current documents that have been stored in several boxes to get them organized and prepared for the digital storage site.

The fire district provided cold water/ice rescue support for the Winterfest polar plunge.  Two of the firefighters were spotlighted for their contributions to the community.

The board wants to review the 5-year plan to help prepare for this year’s TRT grant request.  The new satellite station development will most likely be the focus.

This month’s responses were 1 structure fire, 1 vehicle fire, 1 medical, 15 short-term and 9 business inspections.  Winter fire school was in January and 6 firefighters attended.
