Rich County Commisssion

RANDOLPH, Utah.  June 2, 2021. Sheriff Dale Stacey is considering using Cache County’s dispatch for overflow dispatch needs.  With more and more people recreating in the area there are often multiple emergencies.  This month there were 4 emergency calls at the same time, and it has caused problems, and does not meet the state requirements for coverage.  Cache County is willing to do it for a fee.  Stacey said that it would be cheaper than hiring two or more dispatchers and training them.  The potential contract will be looked at by the county attorney before the commissioners approve it.

Garden City has 75% of the incidents the Sheriff responds to in the summer. There are two additional summer deputies who will be in Garden City this summer.

Mitch Poulsen, Bear Lake Regional Commission, said that they are working on the county general plan and have sent out requests for proposals for consultants to build the plan.  They have $70,000 for the project; Garden City is completing their general plan which can be incorporated.  Woodruff and Randolph have committed to join in.  Laketown is still discussing joining.  UDOT and other agencies are joining in.  The last general plan was done in 1996.  They will be looking at land use, affordable housing, parking and transportation routes, public lands, trails and open space, public services, and economic development among other things.  The plans will be similar and consistent which will make it better for the county to use.
