Special Education Aide working with Post High School Student

 

Applicants must be willing to submit to a background check.

 

Interested individuals must be 18 years old, be a high school graduate or equivalent, have the

ability to communicate effectively and help others, have a valid Drivers License, and be willing and able to transport in a district-owned vehicle.  Must also be able to lift 50 pounds.  Applicants should have the ability to work with children, perform routine record keeping functions, and establish maintain working relationships with co-workers, teachers, students, and the public.

Dyer's Woad - a serious, obnoxious, invasive weed

 Help our area in chopping off the heads of dyer's woad. Of course, it is better if it is dug, but anything will help until the heads go to black seeds.

Garden City Town Council June 2023

 

Meeting was called to order and roll was taken. Jordan Parry was excused.

Public Comments

Encumbrance discussion for Buttercup lot 66. Approved.

Osprey Heights and Sweetwater Townhome plans were assigned to come back in July according to P&Z report.

Public Hearing for the 2024 Budgets were approved with some discussion.

18 Short Term Rentals were approved after meeting parking and fire inspections.

Ordinance #23-03 changing the commercial setbacks needs more work and will be reviewed in July.

An Ordinance updating Building permit requirements was approved.

Kathy Hislop was appointed to the Food Pantry Board.

Council Member Reports:

Ken Hansen reported on the well by Sweetwater. It is finished and is being tested. The boilers from the pool area are for sale as are some other articles from the pool.

Martel Menlove met with the Outdoor Recreation group. They discussed the parking problems in Logan Canyon.

Pat said that Raspberry Days is in good shape. The theme for 2023 is “Made in America”.

Mayor Mike reported on the July 3rd celebration. There will be food trucks at Heritage Park and a free concert. 4,000 ping pong balls with prizes printed on them will be dropped by a helicopter and lastly the fireworks will begin about 10:00.

He also reported on his meeting with UDOT. There is a newly painted truck lane from the Catchnet system to Shundahai area. The brake check area will be manned at the top of Logan Canyon. Also, more signs from Brigham City to Logan will alert truck drivers that the brake check area will require every truck to stop and be inspected. UDOT is looking at a light of some sort on the catchnet area.

The canal will be inspected by6 a geotech company to figure out what went wrong. The canal company is hoping to get the canal fixed as soon as possible.

Rich County Commission Meeting-June 2023

Yearly report from the Bear River Health Department.

Business Licenses issued to Quin Siddoway for Q Bar S Services for ?? and to Shawn Walker for Winding Waters Landscape.

Mitch Poulsen from Bear Lake Regional Commission brought the Outdoor Recreation Contract that has to be signed every year and a Campground Ordinance to discuss with the Commissioners.

Lyn Weston, Rich County Sanitation, presented the bill for the new garbage truck which had been ordered and delivered. He also discussed the company from Ogden which recycles mattresses. He will get more information and it may help keep our landfill in better condition as buried mattresses do rise from the ground when it freezes and thaws.

Annaliesa Peart, Clerk/Auditor, discussed the Fair's Financial responsibilities. The Commissioners were able tell her that they have their own place in the assigned ledger so she does not have to follow their money. She presented the commissioners with the Justice Court Contract which has to be signed every year. Also, the Commissioners changed their bookkeeping to Pelorus. There was an Opioid Settlement of about $2,000 which the Commissioners opted to put in the ledger for 2024 to be used probably with the County's mental health program. She also reported on the May Tax Sale and how the problem with the mining properties was sold.

Kim Wilson, Assessor reported on the Personal Property Exemptions.

 Tom Wahlberg from the Sheriff's Dept. suggested that the County follow the example of Garden City's enforcement of giving a large ticket to groups that are breaking laws in the rental units. The Commissioners will check with the County lawyer to see if all the requirements are compatible.

Garden City Planning & Zoning Notes June 2023

 

Public Hearing for comments from the audience on agenda items.

Minutes approved.

Temporary Storage building 20’ X 30’. There is an existing building on this commercial corner so can add a building when he gets a building permit.

Osprey Heights will be back in July for 1st phase of 33 lots approval. Osprey Heights is located ½ block south and west of Snow Meadows.

Ironhorse development by Brett England will have 10-32’ X 16’ 2 story individual motel structures. It is located directly west of Bear Trapper. They are waiting for the UDOT permit.

Sweetwater Townhomes located on Sweetwater Road has 30 acres that they would like to build 195 multi-family units. The P&Z asked that they get a wetland delineation for the next meeting.

3 ordinances were reviewed to send on to City Council.

Open meeting workshop was held.

Garden City Fire Department Report-Leonard O'Reilley

 No acceptable housekeeping bids have been submitted. Onr bid has been submitted to pour the cement in front of the bay doors on the north and south sides. Another company has promised to submit one in a couple days.


The brush 43 unit is still awaiting warranty tank repair. The Chief called Forestry and State Land to request a brush truck tank to be on a loan program.  There were none available so the request will be noted and he will be notified if one becomes available. A new tank could be purchased but it would be $5500 and not delivered for 6-8 months.  He will see if there is a company that can do plastic welding.


Many citizens were concerned about the “action” at the marina last Saturday. The fireboat was put into service and was used on a training exercise with Idaho. Everything went well.

The Rich County Board of Education will hold its annual budget hearing on the proposed 2023-2024 budget and the final 2022-2023 budget on Tuesday, June 20 at 6:00 p.m. at the Rich School District in Randolph, Utah.  Regular board meeting to follow.
