Harold James Kemp Jr., 87, passed away on August 16, 2022 in Salt Lake City, Utah. He was born July 4, 1935 to Harold James and Irene (Nalder) Kemp.
Jim attended East High School where during his senior year he met the love of his life, Linda (Hall) in the same music class. Jim was a force of nature with his capable ways and brilliant mind and attended the University of Utah on a football scholarship. After serving an LDS mission in England, he completed his education, receiving a bachelor’s degree in business with emphasis in management. Jim and Linda were married during their junior year of college and remained happily married for 62 years before Linda’s passing in 2019.They moved their family to Logan in 1968 and started their own business, JK Business Machines. Jim and Linda sold the business in 1982 and Jim moved into the banking industry for the next six years. As an experienced business owner and manager, Jim also consulted and gave several seminars a year.
Jim was someone who filled his life to the brim with deep lifelong friendships, skiing, activities, travels and experiences. He was passionate about history and biography. Anyone who spent time with Jim knows how much he enjoyed being “on-stage”. He shared his talent with Valley Players and other community acting groups over the years.
In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his sister, Jeanne, his wife, Linda (Hall) Kemp and son Christian James Kemp. Surviving are his children, Jennifer Carlson (Idaho Falls), Carolyn Spillane (Fullerton, CA), Tori Raphael (SLC, UT), and Daniel Arthur Kemp (Midway, UT), as well as spouses, grandchildren, great grandchildren and extended family members that will miss him dearly.
A viewing was held Friday Aug. 26th from 6:00-8:00 at Allen-Hall Mortuary, 34 East Center Street, Logan, Utah.
