Obituary-James (Jim) Kemp

Harold James Kemp Jr., 87, passed away on August 16, 2022 in Salt Lake City, Utah. He was born July 4, 1935 to Harold James and Irene (Nalder) Kemp.

Jim attended East High School where during his senior year he met the love of his life, Linda (Hall) in the same music class. Jim was a force of nature with his capable ways and brilliant mind and attended the University of Utah on a football scholarship. After serving an LDS mission in England, he completed his education, receiving a bachelor’s degree in business with emphasis in management. Jim and Linda were married during their junior year of college and remained happily married for 62 years before Linda’s passing in 2019.

They moved their family to Logan in 1968 and started their own business, JK Business Machines. Jim and Linda sold the business in 1982 and Jim moved into the banking industry for the next six years. As an experienced business owner and manager, Jim also consulted and gave several seminars a year.

Jim was someone who filled his life to the brim with deep lifelong friendships, skiing, activities, travels and experiences. He was passionate about history and biography. Anyone who spent time with Jim knows how much he enjoyed being “on-stage”. He shared his talent with Valley Players and other community acting groups over the years.

In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his sister, Jeanne, his wife, Linda (Hall) Kemp and son Christian James Kemp. Surviving are his children, Jennifer Carlson (Idaho Falls), Carolyn Spillane (Fullerton, CA), Tori Raphael (SLC, UT), and Daniel Arthur Kemp (Midway, UT), as well as spouses, grandchildren, great grandchildren and extended family members that will miss him dearly.

A viewing was held Friday Aug. 26th from 6:00-8:00 at Allen-Hall Mortuary, 34 East Center Street, Logan, Utah.

Rich High Football vs Gunnison Fri. Aug. 26th

On Friday, the Rich High Rebel football team played their first eight man football home game since 1970 against the Gunnison Bulldogs, a 2A school.   The Rich Rebels scored early and led the game going into half time.  The Gunnison Bulldogs were able to come back in the second half  tying the game with less than two minutes to play.  The game went into sudden death overtime where the Bulldogs were able to score first and ended up winning in an exciting, though disappointing game for the Rich Rebels.  The final score was 33 to 27.

You can watch the games on 98.3 My Local Radio Station from Evanston, Wyo. on Youtube at: https://www.youtube.com/user/kadqradio

Thank you to all of the sponsors that support the Rich teams.
