Obituary: Lorna Myrl (LMont) Weston
Lorna Myrl (LaMont) Weston 8/15/1942 -
2/16/2022 Lorna Myrl LaMont Weston passed away peacefully on Wednesday,
February 16, 2022, in Logan, Utah, at the age of 79. Her family would like to
sincerely thank all of those who cared for her during her stay at Terrace Grove
Assisted Living. Lorna was born August 15, 1942, in Logan, Utah, to parents
John R. and LaRene D. LaMont. She married Mckay W. Weston on July 21, 1959 and
was a caring wife for 38 years before he preceded her in death. A mother to
four children, Lorna loved her children unconditionally and her greatest joy in
life were her grandchildren. Lorna's loved ones remember her for her
sometimes-sassy-sometimes-sweet-always-peppy sense of humor, her playfulness
and protectiveness, and most of all, her heart. She was devoted to being a
caretaker and source of comfort to her family, and she earned her wings well in
this life. She is predeceased by her parents, her siblings Lynda Marie
Murdaugh, William E. Owen, and Lana Faye Jardine. Surviving Lorna is her
brother John Ferris Lamont, and her children; Daniel M. Weston, Terri Ann
Lamborn, David N. Weston, and LaRene Eborn, as well as her 12 grandchildren and
24 great grandchildren, with three on the way.
Private family services will be held for Lorna
in Logan, Utah on February 25th, 2022. For those wishing to pay their respects
in the future, she will be buried next to her sweetheart in Laketown, Utah.
Obituary: Dorothy Jean Pugmire
Dorothy Jean Pugmire, 98, of
Logan, Utah, passed away 11 March 2022. She was born 28 May 1923 in Paris, Bear
Lake County, Idaho, to Jonathan Rich Pugmire and Ellen Athay Budge Pugmire.
Jean grew up in southeast Idaho, spending her summers at the family farm
located on Antelope Flats, in the hills east of Bear Lake, and the winters in
Paris, Idaho. Jean's first four years in school were difficult, because she
could not talk plainly and few took the time to try to understand her. Her
brother, Frank, was the only one who learned her language and was often her
interpreter. In the fourth year of school, the whole family moved to Logan so
she could have a special teacher and attend the Whittier School. This
experience changed her life. In 1944 Jean joined the WAVES. She was discharged
in 1946 with the rank of Mailman Second Class. Jean graduated from Utah State
University and Merrill Palmer Institute in Detroit, Michigan. She received a
Master's Degree from the University of Michigan , and an EdD from the University
of Maryland. Jean taught kindergarten in Provo and Logan City schools.
She was preceded in
death by her parents; three older sisters, Alice (Robert John) Evans, Nancy
Helen (G.B.) Crawford, and Ruth (Floyd L.) Carter; an older brother, Franklyn
Budge Pugmire; and one nephew. She is survived by three nieces and two nephews.
A graveside service with Military Honors will be held at Logan City Cemetery
Friday March 18 at 11:00 am.

Garden City Planning and Zoning March 9, 2022 Recap
Garden City Planning and Zoning March 9, 2022 Recap
During the public comment people spoke on the following opinions:
Having Sun Resort
help build 3rd West since the road plans have been moved due to
their resort plan. The answer from Sun Resort people was that they will help
with their share as will other land owners.
Some questions remain about the possible back up on SR 30.
UDOT will address the issue when the Resort plans are approved by the City.
A concern was
expressed about the water runoff. The City engineer will approve the water
runoff to meet the 100 year possibilities of water drainage.
The Hodges canal company will work with Sun Resort to make
sure the canal easements are protected.
A question was raised about the area becoming a PRUD. PRUD’s
are flexible, which upsets some people as they do not understand that
when a property is sold then the original owners or those who have lived in the
community for years really do not have the choice of what will be done by the
new owners. Also, for those who want to know where to go for information, it is
located at https://www.utah.gov/pmn/
Regular meeting;
Discussion of Sun Resorts refinement of their Resort Plans.
Much discussion was held about the water lines crossing the Sun Resort
property. The Resort will work with the Canal Company and the homeowners to
make sure they have water. The Resort plans to have transportation to Blue
Water Beach area. The Planning Commission denied approval and asked that they
bring back the preliminary plat to answer the questions they have.
Randy Scholes from Lockwood wants to combine 3 lots and make
two lots. It was approved upon condition that he bring a letter from the HOA
giving approval for this change and an amended plat.
Preliminary approval for Water’s Edge 1, 5,& 6 with a
spring percolation test and verifying enough parking.
Buttercup was denied as the preliminary plat did not show
the building footprint where the canal is located.
Moldenhauer employee RV housing for 20 sites on 2 acres was
approved. Discussion was held on egress and ingress area.
Conestoga’s PUD was denied until they bring a plat that
shows the open space and the cross section for the RV area.
For Discussion only, Horizon presented a plan for 160
apartment units on 6 acres with 300 parking spaces.
Again may I remind you to go to https://www.utah.gov/pmn/ to see what is
on the agendas.
