Eighteen Wheeler Philosophy

By Mel Hansen
The Eighteen Wheel Philosopher

So early this morning, around 2 am at the truck stop near Hannibal, Missouri,  I was awakened out of a sound slumber by two women...who are team drivers...parked next to me.

I hurriedly scrambled out of my sleeper to see them standing in front of my truck, shouting their lungs out at each other, and then the slapping the crap out of each other started! As I was pulling on my pants I started to come to my senses and thought to myself do I really want to get out of my truck and break up these two ladies? Or just sit and enjoy the fight from ringside with my doors securely locked? I didn’t see anyone else out there trying to pour water on them to break them apart!

But I’m stupid! They might kill each other or at the very least become bald as a billiard ball!  As I’m pulling my hoodie over my head and putting on my shoes, still trying to come fully awake, I’m noticing the kindest thing they’re saying to each other is ”You can go to Hell!” the rest really wasn’t very ladylike!

So I open my door and jump out, go to the front of my truck and yell “HEY!” They both stop slapping and yelling at each other and look at me, and I begin to think to myself that I should’ve grabbed my fire extinguisher to spray them down.  Or I’d better keep calm and diplomatic here, or they’re both gonna turn on me!

So here’s what I said to them, and I have no clue where I pulled it from the recesses of my still half asleep mind!  “Where do the people who are in hell tell each other to go...when they’re pissed at each other?”

They looked at me for a few seconds...started to laugh and one told me...”How in the Hell should we know?”

They both got back in their truck...it was quiet the rest of the night!

But because I just couldn’t help myself...and to extend a little vengeance upon these ladies for waking me up...I jumped up and down on the running board of their truck a few times to shake, scare and awaken the living hell out of the evil that lives in it, just before I pulled out of the parking lot this morning.

I’m such a devil!
