Notice is hereby given that the Town of Laketown Town Council will hold a Budget Hearing at 6:00 p.m. on in the Laketown Town Office located at 10 North 200 East Laketown, Utah.

 BUDGET HEARING To consider, receive public comment and discuss with the Laketown residents the review of operating budgets for the fiscal year 2023-2024. The Town of Laketown operating budgets for fiscal year 2023-2024 are available for inspection in the Laketown Office at 10 North 200 East, Laketown, Utah, during regular office hours.

 Budget information may also be viewed on the town's website: www.laketownutah.com. The public is invited to attend and may give written or oral comments. 

All public hearing items will be discussed and/or approved during the Laketown Town Council meeting, directly following this Public Hearing. On Tuesday April 25th, at 4p.m. a copy of the foregoing notice was posted on the Utah Public Notice website at http://pmn.utah.gov and on the Laketown website at www.laketownutah.com. 

A copy was also posted in conspicuous view inside and outside the Laketown Town Office in Laketown, Utah, and inside and outside of the Laketown post office and at Dee's Service Station.

April School Board Meeting Unofficial Summary

REQUEST TO SPEAK

·        Weston Taylor and James Wamsley (student) gave a report on Skills USA where several students went down to compete in various skills. He showed how they took the machine and designing skills they've learned to create a product and submit to the competition. They received 3rd place.

ACTION ITEMS

·        Board directed Superintendent Lamborn to schedule a working session with the Rich Booster Club to discuss the relationship between the school and booster club. No decision was to be made until after that working session.

·        Board ratified the '23-'24 school calendar

·        Board approved a bid for a new bus. Needed to be ordered now in order for it to be ready in '24-'25 school year

·        Board selected a board member to speak at graduation

·        Board selected board members to take part in the interest-based facilitation team

·        Staffing - Board approved a name for Rich High School Principal and gave direction to extend an offer (since the meeting, Jesse Calder accepted that offer and will be the new High School principal and his current position in special education has now been opened for applications)

·        Staffing - Board approved Cody Lundgren inter-district transfer to fill SRE and RHS physical education and RHS health and science teacher. The NRE/RMS position was opened for application.

·        Staffing - board hired Danelle Wasden as High School Head Volleyball Coach along with Lauren Haycock as an Assistant Coach

·        Staffing - Wendy King resigned as a route drive effective end of school year

·        Staffing - Sandi Thomson resigned as a part-time cook at SRE/RHS effective end of school year

INFORMATION ITEMS

·        Homeschool requests were presented to the board as an FYI

·        Mrs. Cornia reported on a visit from the Utah State Board of Education (USBE) regarding the districts literacy. USBE is aware that Rich School district is in the top percentile for literacy and wanted to come see the teachers and students in action. Very positive report.

·        May board meeting was scheduled for May 18th at 6pm
