Rich School Board Precinct Redistricting

The State of Utah has approved the redistricting proposal, as submitted by the County Commissioners, following the work of the redistricting committee. A map of the “Local Board Districts/Prescient’s” can be accessed on the Rich District home page.

Subsequent to that approval, Rich School District will be appointing a new school board member to represent district #5.

This voting district represents the northern part of Garden City. As some have examined the map, there has been a question relative to the “finger like” south jog and exactly what area it includes. The jog represents a turn south on 100 west and continues to 350 south where it turns east to the Lake. This jog was an intentional action of the committee, designed to add population to District #5.

Scott Sabey will continue to represent district #1. Pete Cornia will continue to represent district #2. Monte Weston and Eric Wamsley will both be residents of District #3. According to statute, both men will finish out his term of office. Lots will be drawn to see who “officially” represents the district and who will serve as an at large member of the board. Both men will remain voting members, therefore, the process of drawing lots, does not substantially affect the workings of the Board.

Any adult, who is a primary resident of District #5, is welcome to submit a letter of interest to Superintendent Dale Lamborn on or before 12:00 noon on November 4. (A notice and a map can be found in the navigation bars located on the left side of the home page, or written notices have been placed in public buildings in Garden City.) Candidates will be interviewed, in an open meeting, on the morning of November 5, beginning at 9:00 a.m., in the District Office Board Room in Randolph, Utah.

We encourage interested individuals to submit letters of interest to Superintendent Dale Lamborn, as specified in the announcement.
