RANDOLPH, Utah. Sept 2 2015. Gary Ketsdever, of
the American Legion, told commissioners that the Legion would like to repaint
the names on the WWI War Memorial. Ketsdever
feels that with the new landscaping and the planed new flagpoles and flags the
monunment should be restored. The county has ordered three flag poles which
will be placed around around the monument.
A resolution for a sales and use tax increase of .25% which
will be voted upon in the general election was made and passed. If the tax
increase passes the funds will be used for roads, public transportation, trails
and maintenance. Commissioner Bill Cox said that most counties
are doing it to help maintain roads.
School Board redistricting was finally approved, by the
commissioners. It will now go to the
state for final signature and at that time the state will provide an online map which
will be on the county website , hopefully next month.
The Utah Department of Agriculture is doing a display of historical farming and
ranching in Utah and need pictures and artifacts from each county. Commissioner are asking long time residents
to share anything for this permanent display.
Many photographs have been put on the Woodruff, Utah Facebook page.
The Commission voted to spend $10,400 to contract with
Broken Heart Rodeo for 2016 – 2018. They
are contracted to bring all the stock and it makes the Rich County Fair one of
the last real rodeos left in the state.
Ulrich and Associates completed the audit on Rich County. Chuck Ulrich, CPA, said “This county is in
good financial shape. Some of the fund
balances are larger than allowed by law.
The financial records are well done.”
Cox said, “ This year’s budget
will take care of the fund balance overage.”
The county has very little debt. Revenues were down from expected, but since revenues are very unpredictable,
the county has been conservative about
spending. Many departments have operated under budget. Ulrich suggested that a new Capital Fund be
added so that multi year savings for such things as ambulances could be better
accounted for.
