Letter To The Editor

Letter to the Editor:

The last two RCT issues have had articles stating the County and Garden City may have to increase some fees to become in line with other counties and communities. The problem I see is those comparisons were made against larger populated counties and communities with higher incomes than those of Rich county. Because we have lower incomes any increases in taxes or fees will have a bigger impact on our budgets.

So, I hope our elected officials will take a long hard look at how the residents will be affected before they increase our taxes directly or indirectly with fees, simply to put their wants in line with other counties and communities.

A concerned resident,

Randall Knight

Garden City has no intention of rasing taxes and has not raised property taxes in six years. A sales tax increase was proposed three years ago for a public vote. The public by a large margin voted to fund parks, library, and paths with the PAL sales tax. Garden City is doing a master plan study on water to include looking at redundant systems, wells, and depreciation of old pipe and how we might pay for that.
