Mock Legislators Learn About State Government

Mikaela Silva of Rich County was among several high school age 4-H members from across the state of Utah that attended Mock Legislature. Mock Legislature is held under the direction of the State 4-H Ambassadors and their Advisor, Craig Dart. It was held at the Utah State Capitol building in the House Chambers. The The event included: Guest speakers that present ideas and encourage youth to get involved now. Lessons on the legislative process Committee meetings to hear the bills being presented A tour of the Capitol building Open debate over the 15 bills that the youth present in the actual House Chambers This is a great opportunity for youth to actually present bills and debate them from the floor. It helps them to understand how Bills become a law. They are the next generations of leaders.
