RANDOLPH, Utah. May 4, 2016. Barrel
Club Arena Jean Meyers, Rich Barrel Club, asked commissioners to help the arena
with garbage disposal. Garbage bins
around the arena have not been emptied. The commissioners said that they would
purchase some of the large black cans that can be wheeled out to be emptied by
the sanitation department trucks. They
also noted that each user of the arena should be responsible for their own
trash. The Barrel club meets on Monday
and the trash is collected on Tuesday.
Meyers also commended David D. Jones who is working the arena grounds as
a volunteer.
Bret Argyle, Fair Board, suggested
that the lighting system be upgraded at the arena rather than repairing the old
system. The lighting is obsolete and
very expensive to repair and find parts and lights. The power company would donate the four light
poles needed and set them up. The
lighting system would cost about $55-59,000. The new
lights are more energy efficient.
In addition, the Fair Board wants
to build a new concession stand 12’x 50’ which will cost $10,000. He suggested they add bathrooms at a cost of about $3500 more. The concrete pad is about about $3,000. The Town of Randoph would add in some
funding for the concession stand, and maintain it after it is constructed.
Commissioner Norm Weston asked
Argyle to get three bids. Tom Weston agreed that this should be pursued.
