I hope the good citizens of Rich County appreciate the significant tax revenue that part time residents of Garden City provide to enhance their school system. The students are very fortunate to have top of the line facilities provided by the people who do not have the option to vote for any increase in their property taxes, nor do they benefit from any services from the county. Full time residents are granted a reduction in the appraised value of their property, but seasonal owners must pay at full appraised value. It strikes me that this system is an example of taxation without representation.

As a "part time resident (I own a single lot)," I am happy for those that will benefit. With one caveat: whoever the taxpayers are, regardless of amount they contribute to the pool, they should have access to the track outside of school hours or when the facility is being used in its official capacity. The track is the safest place to run, rain, shine, day or night. Place rules that minimize use of the the inner three lanes, i.e. runners in 4-5, walkers in 6-8, to maintain the integrity of the lanes most important to competition.
