Debra Dickerson McKinnon passed
away peacefully on Sunday, Sept. 15, surrounded by her loving family.
Debbie was born on Feb 10, 1952,
in Evanston, to Robert Paul and Donna (South) Dickerson. She attended Evanston
schools and went on to study speech pathology at the University of Wyoming and
Utah State University. Aggies or Cowboys? Cowboys all the way for Debbie!
On June 8, 1973, she married the
love of her life, Ross McKinnon, in the Logan LDS Temple. They spent 39 years taking
care of the family ranch in Randolph. Debbie also worked for USDA Farm Services
and owned and operated her own porcelain and ceramic shop.
A beautiful daughter, Tanya Lynn,
was born to the couple and soon became the center of their world. They followed
Tanya and her rodeo queening contests all over the country as Tanya became Miss
Rodeo America. Tanya met and married Matthew Bartlett, and soon their bouncing
boy Bridger joined the family.
Debbie and Ross moved to South
Weber, Utah, to be close to their daughter. Seven years ago, Debbie became a
loving second mother to Bridger after Tanya was prematurely taken from this
earth due to cancer.
Debbie loved her time with
Bridger, and he adored her. She was a beloved aunt, friend and neighbor, and
she will be greatly missed.
Debbie is survived by her
husband, Ross McKinnon of South Weber; son-in-law, Matthew Bartlett and
grandson Bridger of Mountain Green, Utah; sisters, Linda Barker and Christie
(Craig) Lester of Evanston; and brother, Scott (Maschelle) Dickerson of Urie.
She is preceded in death by her
daughter, Tanya Bartlett; parents, Robert and Donna Dickerson; in-laws, Lynn
and Willa McKinnon; and brothers-in-law, Nelden Barker and Brent and Doug
McKinnon.
A viewing was held from on Sunday, Sept. 22, and again on Sept. 23 for one hour prior to the
funeral service. The funeral was held on Monday, Sept. 23, at
the LDS church located at 2620 E. 8200 South in South Weber, Utah, with the
viewings and funeral both at this location.
