RANDOLPH, Utah. August 5, 2015. Mitch Poulsen Bear Lake Regional Commission and Rich County Planning and Zoning Administrator, asked county commissioners to appoint Garden City resident Bryan House as a new representative on the P & Z board. The vote was unanimous in favor.
Poulsen said that the Rich County zoning map has been
digitized and is now available for developers , realtors and others in the
public. It now can be e-mailed to people who want it
and will help understand the county’s zoning ordinances better with several overlays
possible such as ownership overlays, and gives the county a lot more
versatility.
Commissioner Bill Cox said this will be helpful in the
county’s resource planning document.
Ordinances have also been updated.
One ordinance now requires new development within 600 feet of the lake to be hooked to the sewer
system. The planned new East shore
development will now put in sewer connections.
Another ordinance protects line of sight of old residents when new developments
are created. Lands next to federal lands need a wildland/ urban interface fire
protection plan.
Poulsen also recommended that public hearings be held at the
planning commission level rather than at the county commission level. The commissioners agreed.
