Lake Elevations

Bear Lake elevation update
July 25, 2016

  • Bear Lake on July 25th was at 5,913.25 - That is down 1.19 ft from the high elevation approximately one month ago.
  • The flow at Rainbow Canal is only 70 cfs. Ten days ago it was around 320 cfs. That drop in natural flow has resulted in an increase in pumping from the lake. Ten days ago the rate was 1000 cfs. Yesterday it was up to 1500 cfs.
  • The twice weekly conference calls continue to reflect all water users' conservation efforts. To date they have used about 58,000 acre feet or about 8 inches of Bear Lake water.
That means the other 6 inches have been lost due to evaporation! It's a natural byproduct of our recent hot and windy weather.
Does anyone see any monsoonal rain in the forecast?
