According to CNN, the Coronavirus is a large group of viruses and illnesses.
The COVID-19 has cancelled both little league and the actual MLB. “This ‘stuck inside we have to make the most of it’ is driving me mad” said Matthew Stone, a victim of missing school.
According to interviews, 2 of 3 people say they miss being able to go outside regularly, and one says he is okay but he still wants to go outside." From The Hour News. Matthew Stone, Reporter
GARDEN CITY, Utah. March 20 -21, 2020. What are nine and ten year olds doing in Rich County and Cache County to make the best of not going to school?
Susan House: The child I am helping is glad she doesn't have to take tests, but she misses being in the class to do everything else. Science, math, reading, recess etc. She misses seeing her classmates. .She is doing packets and some on line work. She likes the variety she has using both options.
Jennifer Casillas: Dom has mixed feelings. 50% of him wants to go back to school and 50% wants to stay home. Dom said “I have been writing hypotheses, making bread in a bag, hiking, school work from school, teaching others about rocks, climbing trees, moving bees, watching Home Safari trips from the Cincinnati Zoo and reading any book I want. "
.
Dom really does like the extra STEM and outdoor activities that we are doing. That he doesn’t get to do in school that time won’t allow.
Lauriann Wakefield : Scotty likes it because he says school is boring. He can listen to music while he does school work. And he can be with his family. He doesn't like it because he misses his friends. He can't play with his friends.
LH Ray: Eva says she's hates it but she kind of likes it. She likes being with us. She hates not being with her friends. She had done a lot of crafting, rides the pelaton and does online dance lessons.
Kristi Lee-Carvey: Izzie definitely misses being at school with her friends and teachers. She said what she likes about being home is being with me and her Daddy, having lunch with us and going on more bike rides. We have a daily schedule on a whiteboard.
Jill Anderson: Taylor said it is actually really fun....except the homework part! She misses her friends and teacher. Taylor reads for at least 20 minutes each day, practices math facts online, and does other math, language arts, vocabulary, writing and science in Google Classroom. Her teacher has everything set up and calls her daily to check in. It's amazing!!! Awesome school and teachers!!!
Leslie Scott: Out of my 5 kids, my 9 year old is struggling the most. I can't quite figure out why. She fights me every day that we sit down to do school work. I'm not sure if the change is hard on her, or she can't switch her mentality that this is school now and it seems like so much "homework," or if she misses the routine and her friends.
Kudos to all the parents who are trying to make this a good experience for your children.
