Bear Lake Watch Report

 Still Not Good News.

"Check back next week to see what these weeks new storms contribute"

Low runoff expectation were confirmed in this message from Connely Baldwin of PacifiCorp.  " The forecast for the Bear River at Stewart Dam is 49,000 acre-feet (27% of average). This is a little better than February 1."

" The total SWE accumulation still lags behind normal at 83% of median. " 83% sounds "good" but look again! The GREEN line is the "median" of which we are 83% - not so good.

(Today March 7,  SWE is 12.6 in the Upper Basin and 13.0 in the full Basin)

The runoff forecasts combined with the expectation of similar runoff percentages in the local Bear Lake watershed indicates that Bear Lake levels are estimated to reach 5917.7 feet around May 16. "

A heavy irrigation storage demand is expected and fall lake levels may dip below 5914.0 feet. "
