Bear Lake Watch Report

So, this is what 5913 looks like!
When you are at the Lake, take a picture and drop a pin on your map app for future reference.
It seemed like a wild summer!

It seems to me that water went down faster than ever this year, but when I checked the history, this year was very much like 2013 - the decline profile mimics that of 2013, just slightly lower.

It went like this:
  • By late May, the lake had only gained a titch (that’s a technical term my mom used … about ½ foot in this case)
  • The Causeway was closed and the pumps started up. (Remember the last Splashback)
  • The pump count went up and up the lake elevation went down and down.
  • The beach got bigger and busier.
  • It was HOT! Hotter than I’ve experienced. (Being part alligator, I notice these things.)
  • And finally, the rains have come! (Big time, with over an inch in many places)
  •  Just in the nick of time! (Who says that anymore?)
  • The Irrigators are nearing the end of their allocated supply
  • But, we could still see a bit more decline, as there is still some water remaining on the Irrigation Contracts and potatoes don’t come off until October…
More to this story, hope to share it with you soon.
