I read an
interesting article by Chris Huston called, “The inevitability of daffodils” in
the Magic Valley Times-News printed May 14th, 2023. His article
started me thinking about one of my favorite flowers - the daffodil. No matter
how tough the winter has been when a daffodil forces its way to the surface
(even during the latest snowfall) you can believe spring is on its way. The
bright yellow flowers wave to us in our cocooned environment and seem to say,
“I’m here come out and play in the dirt”.
Catastrophic
events happen in our lives, our communities, and our world but the daffodils
still come up as a testament to us that life will go on, perhaps not in the way
that we thought, but onward.
