As I drove by the beautiful new park honoring WWWII veterans, I though how fortunate we were that the Calder family honored their father in such a community building way. Every year the pink blossoms on the trees will remind of us of the first Memorial Day ceremony held at the park and we do so hope it will become an annual tradition. This year three surviving Garden City veterans were honored: John Hansen, Blanche Hodges and Dean Cook.
The statute of WWWII veteran Robert Calder was created by sculptor Dan Snarr. But the impetus came from Gaye Calder Johnson who worked with her brother Ned Calder to make this park wonderful. Garden City residents thank them for their generous gesture. The Editor
