Everyone who had
the privilege of being in Mr. Willis’ (McKay Willis) 5th grade class at North
Rich Elementary remembers being part of recording daily readings on many
different environmental areas; from temperature readings, to precipitation
levels in snow & rain, to pressure readings of the atmosphere, and even PH
levels in the water & soil. He taught us so much in that class that I’ll
never forget. I’m so happy that their family is being recognized for going the
extra mile in the community.
Congratulations to the Willis Family of Laketown, UT for earning
the COOP 100-Year Family Heritage Award! Current observer Thad Willis took the
reins after his father McKay's 35-year tenure, which followed previous cousins'
observations since 1921. This bevvy of Willis members have measured and
reported temperature and precipitation data every single day for now over a
century.
