Help Protect Bear Lake - Bear Lake Watch
Dear Friends of Bear Lake, Bear Lake’s legendary blue waters and breathtaking landscapes are part of what makes this region so special. But preserving that beauty doesn’t happen by accident — it takes science, daily care, and the steadfast support of people like you. In 2025, Bear Lake Watch is launching three essential research initiatives to protect the lake’s ecosystem, combat invasive species, and shape smarter policies for the future. These efforts are urgent — and they need strong, consistent support to succeed. Your gift this year will do two powerful things: |
- Fund innovative scientific research that protects Bear Lake long-term
- Support the daily operations that power every aspect of our work
|
Here’s what your donation will help make possible: |
- Understanding the role of Sediment in Milfoil Spread and Herbicide Effectiveness. Eurasian Watermilfoil is threatening the lake. This study will investigate how sediment and lake chemistry influence its growth and spread — and which treatment methods are most effective. The findings will drive a more rapid response and smarter management strategies.
- Exploring the Economic and Environmental Impacts of the Bear Lake Regional Economy. Tourism, agriculture, and ranching all depend on water — and impact it, too. This study will explore how our local economy and environment intersect, providing guidance for balanced, sustainable growth.
- Characterizing the Hydrodynamics of Bear Lake. Understanding water movement is key to protecting the lake’s clarity and health. We’re collecting temperature and current data to build a long-term scientific resource — one that supports invasive species management and smart planning.

These projects are the heart of our 2025 vision. But they rely on the behind-the-scenes work that keeps Bear Lake Watch running every day — monitoring, outreach, coordination, and advocacy. Your support fuels both the groundbreaking science and the essential stewardship that make it all possible. Please consider a tax-deductible donation today. Every gift helps us protect the lake we all love — now and for generations to come.
