Rich School Board Meeting

RANDOLPH, Utah.  August 21, 2018.  Superintendent Dale Lamborn introduced three new employees. Charlotte Coburn will teach first grade.  She grew up in Salt Lake City, and moved to Laketown.  She graduated from USU with a degree in Elementary Education and did her student teaching in Italy.

Sarah Taylor will teach sixth grade language arts, reading, art, yearbook, and mindfulness.  Sarah attended BYU and SUU and lives in Laketown.

Tyson Larsen will teach seventh grade math, shop, P.E. type, digital literacy, and keyboarding.  He will also serve as the assistant football coach and wrestling coach.  He grew up in Randolph, Utah and graduated from USU.  He has taught at Altamont before this position.

The Board presented a motion giving  a vote of thanks to Alice Argyle who has resigned.   Several motions were made to accept   Stephanie Dean,  David Fairbourne,  Kathleen Lemmert,  and Jamie Stokes as new aides at Rich middle School.

Siddoway has resigned as the wrestling coach at the middle school.  Tyson Larsen will be the new wrestling coach at the middle school.

The Board approved a motion to accept the policy on Electronic Meetings which allows board members to attend a meeting by telephone or other electronic methods.

The District Annual Reports was approved and adopted.  The Board gave congratulations to Jenny Johnson, Business Administrator, for preparing and submitting an exemplary Annual District Report for the Rich County School District.

Mindfulness, a new program for self awareness and the benefits of physical and emotional health to be taught in the schools was presented at the Opening Institute for this school year..  Superintendent Dale Lamborn   felt the program went very well.  Superintendent Lamborn stated that he received a great deal of positive feedback on the Institute.

Dr. Kip Motta, principal of Rich Middle School, stated "it was the best Opening Institute ever".  He said that Weston Taylor, Rich School District Counselor, has done a remarkable job and  made this program possible for not just the students and employees of the District, but for the entire community. The Bear River Region AM STEM Program  has been selected as the 2018 Utah  Career and Technical Education  (CTE) Excellence in ACTION award winner by the Utah State Office of Education.   It is being recognized for exemplifying excellence in the implementation of the following: Successful implementation of CTE Career Pathways, Progression and connection from secondary to postsecondary education, and  meaningful work-based impact on achievement and success. 

Board Member Scott Sabey, attended the USBA  meeting.  There was much discussion concerning funding, WPU, testing, academic growth, and school safety.  He felt the Delegate Assembly allows all Districts to weigh in on concerns in both the State and own community.

Enrollment 2018-2019  (August 20, 2018)  Total- 516 Students.  South Rich Elementary has 113 students, North Rich Elementary, 120.  Rich Middle School has 126 and the high school,157.
