Oct. 5th, 2022 Rich County Commission Meeting

View Rich County Commission meetings on youtube.

The Commissioners set the agenda and began with a discussion on a lot realignment for an Eastside Lake Development. The amended plat passed.

Angela and Wesley Suggs came in for a license for their ice machine business. They were referred to Garden City as that is where it is located.

Intermountain Health and Medicare Broker, Tyler Kelsey, presented a variety of plans for the Commissioners to review. Jared Briggs, from Randolph, also represents Medicare Clients in Rich County. He will give you advice and information on the best plans. The County is satisfied with their insurance from Hoffman out of Evanston.

Beth Smith from Bear River Mental Health reviewed the help that is available to the County for those in need. MCOT is Mobile Crisis Outreach which provides Peer Support to individuals who call.

Bear Lake State Park Superintendent, Richard Droesbeck, detailed the summer at Bear Lake. Bear Lake parks generated $2.4 million in income. Labor Day was the busiest Richard had seen in his six years.

Atlas towing has the permit for helping people at the marina.

Rendezvous Beach Park has new black top. Rendezvous Park will be adding new camp sites.

The Marina Expansion is being discussed with all of the groups involved. It takes a lot of time to get things done. There will be an open house on Nov. 16 to discuss the Marina Expansion.

The wells have been a problem that Rendezvous has to resolve.

There are 3 new dump stations at Rainbow Cove.

In the afternoon discussion was held on ordinances: Class D road closures, water health, and noxious weeds.

Leta Milera discussed her program for tracking short term rentals and thinks the county should update their system.

Oct. 5, 2022 Garden City Planning and Zoning

Interested in learning more about the challenges Garden City faces? Go to Public Meeting Notices and see the attachments for the development plans.

P & Z Discussed Osprey Heights and the issues they have with the plat as outlined. Originally platted about 15 years ago and approved, but not developed, the plans are trying to come into compliance. They are dedicating land for the continuance of Paradise Parkway. They were encouraged to come next month to the planning and zoning meeting to discuss changes.

A question arose as to the necessity of open spaces that are required for every development. Who maintains open spaces after the HOA dissolves. P & Z will check other places to see how they address this problem.

Bear Lake Vista came in for Final Approval on Phase 1. There were questions about the fire hydrants. They were asked to come back next month with an improved plat.

2nd North PUD by Mark Smoot phase 2 was approved.

Elk’s Ridge (The Fell area), is struggling to build a road to City Standards. They have met with planning committee for suggestions. They will go to the variance board for approval.
